Capturing what makes a family unique is an artform and, if your family’s uniqueness requires an extra bit of understanding, then pop-up portraits are your perfect match. 

All our relaxed family photoshoots are created around a fun experience for the children, so it’s a stress-free time that you all have happy memories of. We have lots of experience taking portraits of families where one or more child has ASD or additional needs, and are here to give you all the support you need so they can just be themselves.

All the POP photographers are mums with over 60 years’ of professional experience. Both Nikki and Jenny are mums to fabulous children with autism or additional needs. As both photographers and parents, we feel the most important thing is to ‘JUST BE YOU’!

We make sure all the children we photograph feel safe, happy and enjoy themselves as much as they can. Their needs come first, whether we’re shooting at their school, in the studio, in outside spaces or inside your home. 

We don’t want anyone to feel rushed and always allow twice as much time than we do for our other sessions, so they have time to play games, dance, sing, snack and take all the breaks they need. Running around making a racket, or sitting quietly, it’s all good with us. We also never force them to pose or tell them to smile, either. We do our best to be funny so plenty should sneak out, but we won’t make them feel under any pressure.

We can also manage how close we need to be, by using different lenses and will rely on natural light wherever possible so they don’t get annoyed by a flash. 

It’s important to provide this kind of safe environment for all children that we photograph, but it’s absolutely essential for children who have additional needs. They need a photographer who is willing to take extra time and will put their needs first – like us.
